Gym battles are the least intuitive part of “Pokémon Go.” However do you know how to switch Pokémon in the middle of a battle? Well according to Jacob Shamsian he was taught by Reddit user kial trelis on how to change Pokemon in the middle of a Pokemon Go battle.

Here’s a breakdown of how to do it battle:

This Tangela won’t last long but you can swap it out for a different Pokémon. Simply swipe up from the screen or tap on the button with the arrows underneath “run.”

Changing your Pokémon in the middle of a gym battle is very useful.

Some Pokémon have type advantage over others, so it's better to use a Pokémon with a fire-type move against an ice-type Pokémon, or an electric-type Pokémon against a rock-type one.
